Tal Chhapar Sanctuary is about an hour’s drive from our resort. The flourishing grassland ecosystem of Tal Chappar contains a tale of its own. Since 1940s, it was a hunting ground and horse pasture belonging to Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner. The area came to be known as a wildlife sanctuary in 1966.
The Sanctuary, a grassland forest, is a wonderful place for nature lovers and photographers, where you can find many Black Bucks (is known as home to about 2500 black bucks) and lots of resident & migratory birds such as Montegu Harrier , Marsh Harrier , Pallied Harrier , Cranes, eastern Imperial Eagle etc. The grassland is very well protected and safari paths are properly marked.
